Meet the Costume Designer! Emily Dokken brings Willy Wonka Jr.’s colorful characters to life with their amazing costume designs! From glittery top hats to candy-colored ensembles, they’re making sure everyone looks as sweet as the story they tell. Emily is excited to be costuming her first show with DMYAT and her first musical in the Des Moines area! Willy Wonka with Gene Wilder is one of her favorite movies of all time! Emily’s got her start costuming in Iowa City! Her first show was Follies in 2023 for Iowa City Community Theater and she hasn’t stopped costuming since. She was nominated for ACT awards for her costuming work on Death of a Salesman for Carousel Theater in March of 2024 and most recently for her work as part of a team on Ripcord for Tallgrass Theatre Company for a Cloris Award for Costumes and Make Up.
