🌱 Balancing Agriculture and Water Quality in the Chesapeake Bay The Chesapeake Bay faces the ongoing challenge of reducing nutrient pollution while supporting a thriving agricultural community. The Bay Journal's recent article, "The Chesapeake Bay Balancing Act," delves into this complex issue. At Sustainable Chesapeake, we're actively addressing this challenge through our collaboration with the Land Grant University Nutrient Management Collaborative. By partnering with experts from institutions like Cornell University, Penn State, the University of Maryland, and Virginia Tech, we're supporting efforts to improve nutrient management planning tools. Another of our key initiatives is the Manure Injection Partnership, which helps farmers implement manure injection techniques. This method not only enhances nutrient utilization but also reduces runoff, benefiting both farm profitability and water quality.
