Creating a more human society where people with and without disabilities share life together L'Arche Greater Washington, D.C. is a faith-based community of people with and without intellectual disabilities who share their lives together. A total of 14 adults who have intellectual disabilities, known as "core people," have made L'Arche home for life. L'Arche operates four homes - two in D.C. and two in Arlington, Va. - where core people and assistants live together, developing mutual relationships of love and trust. In addition to housing, L'Arche provides personalized support services and opportunities for inclusion in society. Visitors are welcome to join the households for dinner or tours of the homes.
