It looks like this: 🌅 Waking before sunrise to care for her own children. 🤗 Being greeted by 100 little arms reaching for hugs. 🧼 Making sure soap, food, and medicine never run out. ⚽ Cheering on soccer games and sharing belly laughs. 🎶 Singing songs, tutoring lessons, and endless cuddles. 🌇 Waving goodbye at sunset. And sometimes returning late to check on children. The children I met there became my real family. They give me so much happiness. We share with each other, we take care of each other, even as we age out. To the little ones a few steps behind me: be patient. Patience kept me on my path. Finish school. We lost everything, we struggled but my mom found us a place to live, it was not easy. I was 10 years old when I ended up at the center, I was sick a lot as my realities had changed so much. Looking at my life now, the children I met at the center, they are my sisters, they’ve become my real family. I love them so much, they give me so much happiness. We take care of each other, even as we age out, we want to hang out with each other. In school I studied Nutrition. Looking at the babies coming into the orphanage and how malnourished they were, I thought I could help my younger siblings. I also love children, and was interested in teaching and ended up finishing in Pedagogy. I got my Diploma. To all the littles ones a few steps behind me, be patient. Patience kept me on my path, in school, not distracted by boys. Finish school, keep going, that will come, but if you get distracted, it's over. Look at some of the older girls around, they ended up with babies and didn't even finish school. A job was offered by a regional deputy, Honorable Nyenemo, and I completed the test and was chosen. I’ve developed better interpersonal skills on how to communicate effectively with people, and understanding different social dynamics. I have decided to pursue Management and Logistics at a local University. I’ve seen this need as we've worked with different communities and situations. Technology is so important, language is key and knowing how to manage people and finances is crucial. This job has really changed the way I see politics." (fb)
