Overview
The American Podiatric Medical Association Educational Foundation (APMA Educational Foundation) is the philanthropic arm of the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA). It focuses on providing educational and financial support to students pursuing careers in podiatric medicine.
History
In 2005, the foundation inherited the assets of the Fund for Podiatric Medical Education, which included over $4 million in scholarship endowments established in the 1990s by APMA members and corporate partners. This transition expanded the foundation's role to managing a comprehensive student scholarship program.
Mission
The APMA Educational Foundation's primary mission is to provide every eligible podiatric medical student with a scholarship award. It has awarded scholarships to more than 3,500 students to date.
Programs and Initiatives
- Scholarship Program: The foundation offers scholarships to second-, third-, and fourth-year students enrolled in accredited podiatric medical colleges.
- Named Endowments: Individuals, organizations, or corporations can establish named endowments with a minimum pledge of $25,000 over five years. These endowments support the scholarship program and generate annual interest to fund awards.
- Memorials and Honors Program: Donations can be made in honor of individuals or to commemorate significant life events, supporting the annual giving campaign.
- Planned Giving: The foundation encourages donors to include it in their estate plans through wills, bequests, or trusts to ensure long-term support for podiatric education.

The APMA Educational Foundation plays a crucial role in supporting the education of future podiatrists by providing financial assistance and promoting quality education in podiatric medicine.
