A hard post to make .. Binkeez for Comfort originated in 2012; our IRS determination letter officially identified us as a non-profit on August 11, 2013. Over the last 10+ years, we have been honored to support — one blanket at a time — the bravest of lives alongside their families. It’s also been an honor and privilege to work alongside the leading Children’s Hospitals in the United States and partner with their pediatric units. With great disappointment and disbelief, today we’re sharing the news that funds were fraudulently removed from Binkeez for Comfort’s bank account; an investigation is underway and police reports have been filed. While we also deal with the breach of operations technology, we then received notice from the Binkeez headquarter’s landlord that we need to vacate the premises, by year end, to our at will lease space we just moved into. Despsite the landlord wanting us to move to another space within the office park, our organization recently moved offices due to a pipe bursting under the cement, that potentially put the fabrics and blankets in jeopardy, so moving a second time in a short period is not feasible for a myriad of reasons. Please note that despite environmental studies from the independent environemtnal specialist that said the air quality was safe and fabric samples showed no issue, the insurance adjuster’s recommendation was to wash or dry clean all the fabrics. That was not an option given our standards and all the fabrics were donated to World Medical Mission (that sent a truck that delivered all the fabric to them) and our Founder, Susan Posterro and Kevin Posterro replaced all the fabrics at their personal expense before moving into the new space. Sadly, Binkeez for Comfort has decided to close its doors. While we make the transition to wind down operations, please know that we will forever carry every single child who has ever been wrapped in our blankets…in our hearts.
