“The African bush lost a true legend of conservation this week. Our dear friend Sharon Haussmann dedicated her life to Kruger National Park and her beloved Balule Nature Reserve. Sharon was an inspirational mentor to the WildArk team and anyone who travelled with us to South Africa spent time with her in the bush. Most likely with a sundowner in hand overlooking a Rhino cow and calf she spent a lifetime protecting. We owe much thanks to Sharon as the dropping of fences on Pridelands would have never happened without Sharon’s support. Sharon’s passion and joy for the wild was infectious. She had time and patience for all sides of the conservation story, yet was fierce and one-eyed in her stance on poaching. To Robin and Aden our deepest condolences, and to Rian and the anti-poaching team we know you’ll continue with the mission.
