Our Mission For the Love of Primates is a 501c3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to create and support a sanctuary for primates retired from research used in the entertainment industry or previously kept as pets. Learn More 100000 Primates used in research As reported by the USDA over 100000 nonhuman primates are currently housed in research institutions in the United States. 23000 Primate imports each year According to the most recent available data from the US Fish and Wildlife Service over 23000 monkeys and apes are imported into the United States every year. Federal Laws There are no federal laws in the United States prohibiting the trade in or keeping of primates as pets.
