Good evening and welcome to our first monument restoration of a classic 19th century Victorian style upright stone that I am a huge fan of and a brief, tragic life journey to begin the week. We were very pleased to have found an amazing photograph of this evening's honoree and a number of images highlighting members of her family... ●☆●☆●☆●☆●☆●☆●☆● ●☆●☆●☆●☆●☆●☆●☆● Jeannette Marie Benton was born n Commodore, Georgia more than 155 years ago on September 5th 1870 to her father James Felton Benton, a CSA (V)eteran of the American Civil War (1822-1907) and her mother. Caroline Elizabeth Bowen (1845 - 1915). This evening's honoree was the second of seven verifiable children welcomed into the World by her parents. She had an elder brother, Byron Montreville and 5 younger siblings that included Osborn Jefferson “O.J.”, Stonewall Jackson “Jack”, Harriett Jane “Hattie”, Elizabeth “Bessie”, and Hamilton Newton. Benton patriarch, James Felton supported his family as a farmer while a younger man, and later in life as a carpenter. On September 20th 1888 at the age of 18, tonight's subject married New Jersey native, Patrick Henry Mullen Jr., the son of a Union Army (V)eteran, in Tattnall County, Georgia. Together the couple had two sons Harvey Dean and Harry Benton during the course of their time together. Jeannette Marie's husband worked as both a house painter and in the field of farming. By 1891, Jeannette and Patrick resided in the Sunshine State of Florida and city of Tampa. Without the benefit of an obituary or death certificate, we know not what took the life of this evening's honoree on August 3rd, 1895. She was one month shy of her 25th birthday. Jeanette Benton Mullen...Beloved Wife, Mother, and Daughter... Before & After ⭐️ As an aside, Jeannette's widowed husband married her sister, 16 year old Elizabeth “Bessie” Benton in 1896 The couple had 5 children, two daughters and 3 sons before Mr. Mullen died in 1913 at the age of 43. ●☆●☆●☆●☆●☆●☆●☆● ●☆●☆●☆●☆●☆●☆●☆● ** If you enjoy the content of our page remember to either "Like", "Comment", or "(S)hare" these posts or this page to increase the likelihood that they will continue to appear in your Facebook timeline.
