We’ve talked a lot about historical radio this year, but today we are looking at a new radio station: The Farm 95.9/1150. The Farm was launched in January of 2024. It’s an interesting concept and an amazing story of collaboration. Mid West FamilyBroadcasting was looking for a new idea for a station and liked the vibes their Madison counterparts had created. Eau Claire reached out, and it developed into a solid partnership. Madison provides the shared playlist and each station crafts agriculture news that serves its geographical area best. Bob Bosold has been an iconic voice in the Chippewa Valley for decades with his Mid-West Farm Report. On The Farm you can hear Jill Welke and Bosold’s report at 5 am or tune in a bit later for a recap. Throughout the day you get agriculture news interspersed with a unique playlist. This station is all about the agriculture lifestyle, and the music reflects that: a mix of classic country, classic rock, and a bit of cross over with other genres. As Operations Manager Phil Tripper said, “You can hear Dolly Parton, Dave Matthews, John Mellancamp, Carrie Underwood, and if you don’t love the current song, your favorite will probably be up next.” Saturday night is devoted to Bonfire Saturday Nights with southern rock ‘n roll. As the station reminds us, “Farming isn’t a job, it’s a lifestyle, and this is the soundtrack." --Diana, Editor 📷https://www.facebook.com/TheFarmEC #cvmmedia (fb)
Any guesses on the first superhero ever created? According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Lee Falk created The Phantom for a comic strip in 1936. The Phantom’s real name is Kit Walker and he dons a mask to become a walking ghost to fight crime. Thirty years later, the strip was still being published in 583 newspapers; at its peak, it was read by 100 million people a day!--Diana, Editor 📷pinterest.com For more stories, don't forget to visit SuperMonster市City!'s America's Monsters, Superheroes, and Villains: Our Culture on Play at the Chippewa Valley Museum. #monstersandheroescvm (fb)
