COMMUNITY CHOIR!!! We have heard lots of people talking about wanting a community choir here in Ada, so we have decided to sponsor one! After looking at many examples of how other community choirs function we believe we have a great plan. Music will be provided 3-4 weeks before rehearsals begin along with rehearsal tracks so each person can learn their part before coming together to rehearse as a group. We will have around 8 weekly rehearsals leading up to a concert. We ask that participants come to at least 5 of the scheduled rehearsals. We ask that participants be 16+. While this is being sponsored by a community theatre group the music performed will not be only "musical theater" music. We expect music from many different backgrounds and styles. Our plan is to invite different conductors from around our area to direct each semester. For our first choir we have invited the talented Micah Gordon, Director of Ada Cougar Choirs, to be our conductor. She has put together a program including: - "Sing to Me" by Andrea Ramsey - "Gloria" from "Mozart's" Twelfth Mass - Attributed to Wenzel Müller - "Every Night (When the Sun Goes Down)" by Gwyneth Walker - "O Schöne Nacht" by Brahms Rehearsals for the fall choir are scheduled to begin on September 8th, 6:00-7:30 PM. Location is to be determined. We are asking each participant to pay $25 to help cover the costs of music, accompanist, and other associated costs. We want as many people to be able to participate as possible so if you are unable to cover that cost but would still like to participate please contact our page in a private message. There is also a plan for having child care available for those choir members who might need it. It will be an additional cost but will be reasonable.
