Fulfilled - thank you!! We have another volunteer need for the league. We just need one person who will help our teams when roster stickers are needed. This person will create a template and provide Avery 5263 2 inch by 4 inch labels printed for a team as requested. Most of our teams no longer need labels due to gamesheets so we will not be purchasing per team this year. This person will provide stickers on an ad hoc basis - with a one week or less turnaround time after request. The person who completes this duty will fulfill their volunteer hours for the season. Please send direct message - this post will be removed once assigned. (fb)
Register Now for the next Learn to Play session https://www.dmyha.com/program/dmyha-learn-to-play-hockey/12988 While Ice Hockey requires a great deal of skill, the proper instruction and attitude make the game more fun and rewarding. Our Learn to Play Hockey Program incorporates the most current and innovative ideas available today. It represents the best methods to start beginning players on the right path to an enjoyable experience in our sport. The Learn to Play Hockey Program lesson plans have been well tested, and have proven successful in every type of Community setting. The established program objectives are: To learn the basic skills required to play the game of hockey. To develop an understanding of basic teamwork through participation in a variety of activities and adapted game situations. To have fun while playing hockey and engaging in physical activity. To create and refine basic motor patterns. To be introduced to the concepts of cooperation, fair play and sportsmanship. Each level consists of 6-10 lesson plans that follow a defined path of progression. As players move through the program, they improve both hockey skills and self-confidence. The program focuses primarily on basic hockey skills: skating, puck-handling, passing and shooting. Each skill is introduced and refined in a progressive“one step at a time” manner. Players participate in practice drills, informal and modified games (similar to shinny or pond hockey). Players are soon proficient enough to have fun while they play. Although the main emphasis is on fun and progressive skill development, the Learn to Play Hockey Program also allows youngsters to experience: * Cooperation * Fair play * Fitness In addition to developing players’ hockey skills and promoting physical fitness, our instructors encourage initiative, stimulate interest in the sport, and instill a desire for continued participation. Class begins 10/15/25 and will end 12/21/25 Class will meet on Wednesdays and Sundays (for most part) at MidAmerican Recplex. Program Overview *Learn to play- Each week includes a review of skills learned in Learn to Skate and the introduction of new skills such as snowplow stop, one-foot glides, backward O's and forward strides. From this solid base, the fundamental skills of skating, stick handling, passing and shooting can be properly taught. Classes meet two times per week; 45 minute training sessions. *At the end of two training sessions, players typically are ready to join either our house or travel leagues. EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS Ice Hockey equipment is not as expensive as many assume…….much of the gear can last a few years before having to purchase new. Each participant must have the following equipment before they take to the ice: Hockey helmet & mask, shoulder pads, elbow pads, hockey gloves, hockey pants, shin guards, ice skates, hockey stick.
