Today, we paused construction at Otto Construction and Balfour Beatty US’s jobsite for an hour at the Sacramento International Airport (SMF) to focus on something equally important as physical safety: mental health. This impactful event brought together industry leaders, advocates, and workers to spark conversations about mental health. It served as a powerful reminder that creating change begins with open dialogue and collective action. Thank you to Congresswoman Doris O. Matsui (CA-07), Sacramento County Supervisor Rosario Rodriguez, and Sacramento County Director of Airports Cindy Nichol for their support and leadership in this critical initiative. Our deepest thanks also go to Allison Otto, President of Otto Construction, and Kyle Frandsen, LEED AP, VP of Balfour Beatty, for their commitment and for welcoming this event onto their jobsite. A special acknowledgment goes to Stephen Dummit, CEO of Tradewinds Leadership, whose inspiring message underscored the necessity of prioritizing mental health within the industry. We also want to recognize the construction workers who are shaping California’s future and breaking down the stigmas surrounding mental health and fostering a culture that prioritizes mental health.
