Apple pie, anyone? Dozens said “yes” to that offer at McTeacher Night at the Knoth Family McDonald’s in Warren. Through the fundraiser, Summit Academy Community School – Warren received nearly $500 in donations. Hosted by Summit Academy school and administration staff, the charitable event generated proceeds from online orders and apple pie sales from 4-7 p.m. on October 9. We are excited to share this story about an incredible local ultra runner, Alex Ramsey, and Akron Middle Community Culture Coordinator Tom Fausnight -- along with the school’s students -- who supported Alex throughout an astonishing 3,100-mile foot race. Alex was the only American runner in the Sri Chimnoy Self-Transcendence ultra race, which started August 20 and ended on October 20. He placed fourth out of the 10 runners who qualified for the marathon. He is the second fastest man in U.S. history!
