Staff and faculty from APU’s Nuna Center recently joined nearly 1,200 researchers, Indigenous Knowledge holders, and community members from across the Arctic and around the world at the Fourth International Conference on Arctic Research Planning (ICARP IV), held at the University of Colorado Boulder. We were proud to help lead the creation of the Indigenous Pavilion—an outdoor gathering space filled with stories, laughter, tears, food, art, film, and ceremony. It was a space of deep connection and shared purpose. Through this gathering, Indigenous participants came together to write and share a powerful statement during the closing plenary. As APU’s James Temte reflected: “It was our plan to invite researchers who support us to stand with us after we delivered the statement. However, before we could extend that invitation, the entire audience began to stand with us in solidarity.
