A Field Monitoring visit was conducted at one of our project sites, the Rice plantation Farm in Ngangebu Village in Bo District Southern Region in Sierra Leone where significant progress in the ongoing farming activities was observed. One of the key activities currently underway is weeding, an essential practice in ensuring a healthy crop development and improved yields. Weeding is being carried out manually by local farmers, primarily women and girls, using traditional tools such as hoes and cutlasses. The activity is vital at this stage of the growth cycle to reduce competition for nutrients, sunlight, and water between the rice plant and unwanted weeds. The presence of weeds, if not properly managed, can negatively affect the productivity of the farm. Therefore this timely intervention demonstrates the Community's Strong commitment to good agricultural practices and Food Security. The farmers expressed optimism about the success of this year's planting season, given the favorable weather conditions and supports relieve from Strong Girls United Women Organization.
