Recent patron rave- thank you for sharing! Great seats this weekend- hope to see you there! 🎨 "My wife and I went to the Idaho Shakespeare Festival last night to see "Sunday in the Park with George." It's a show I've loved for decades but not one I've ever seen a live production of. If you've ever seen a bad production of a show you love, or felt possessive about a piece of theater, then you know that sometimes you can have misgivings about even seeing some works. Happy to say that the cast and crew did much, much more than just stay out of the way of James Lapine's script and Stephen Sondheim's incredible lyrics and transcendent music. Alex Syiek and Jillian Kates played George and Dot, artist and (partial) muse. They convince as their characters and have the vocal abilities to carry off the music. The rest of the actors are perfectly cast as well. The set is beautiful, spare and plain enough to evoke multiple locations. Costumes (!) were fantastic. The entire production is a moving meditation on art, life, love, loss, and eventual forgiveness. Goosebumps at several points throughout the show. If you have an opportunity go see it.
