The Community School Parent Teacher Group (CSPTG) plays a crucial role by helping enrich student learning and foster our sense of community. They work cooperatively with teachers to sustain a cohesive learning community; to provide enriching experiences; and to promote a love of learning. Without the help of parents, Community School, as we know it, could not survive and thrive.Community School is a Choice School within the Lake Washington School District. Located in Kirkland, Wash., the school's mission is to provide a program which strives for excellence and success in learning, while providing opportunities for each child to realize his or her own individual potential, by challenging the students academically, physically, creatively, socially and emotionally in an atmosphere of cooperation and trust."The principle goal of education is to create men and women who are capable of doing new things, not simply of repeating what other generations have done - men and women who are creative, inventive and discoverers [who] have minds which can be critical, can verify, and not accept everything they are offered." - Jean Piaget.

Community School Parent Teacher Group

May 23 is a half day for students. It was previously a non-student LEAP Day, but now it is a half day of school for students to make up for snow days earlier in the school year. Find your school hours here: bit.ly/43rRPlP Schools will be closed on Monday, May 26 for Memorial Day. Schools will re-open on Tuesday, May 27 for a full day of school. (fb)

Community School Parent Teacher Group

Students from Lake Washington School District (LWSD) tallied more than 100 wins or top four finishes between two different science fairs in March. The first event, the Central Sound Regional Science and Engineering Fair (CSRSEF), was held at Mountlake Terrace High School on March 8. Nearly 40 trophies were handed out to LWSD students there. Later in the month, the Washington State Science and Engineering Fair (WSSEF) was held March 28 and 29 in Bremerton. There, LWSD students collected 69 first place trophies.
