Music Director Kedrick Armstrong. The future of orchestral music in America lies within our Youth Orchestras. The Oakland Youth Orchestra provides young musicians with outstanding learning and growth experiences through rigorous rehearsals, concerts, and tours. In addition, we recognize the role that music plays in overall cognitive and social development. OYO enriches the community with inspiring, accessible, and engaging performances.

Our Music Director @karmstrongconductor will be kicking off Season 11 of ‘The Selector Series’ @barshiruoakland on Wednesday, September 3 from 8:00pm-11:00pm. Kedrick will be playing some of his favorite tracks spanning multiple genres on the bar’s amazing hi-fi system. Event is free and 21+. (fb)

Omid Zoufonoun Youth Orchestra Director Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra is recognized as an outstanding Bay Area music program receiving numerous awards from the American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers. The Youth Orchestra presents several classical and youth outreach concerts each season. Consisting of nearly 80 talented music students aged 12 to 22 years from 46 schools and more than 30 cities in the San Francisco Bay Area the Youth Orchestra is open by audition to all qualified young people from Bay Area schools. No musician is excluded for reasons of financial need.
