One of DTN’s missionaries shared that she is currently reading, “Raising Up a Generation of Healthy Third Culture Kids” by Lauren Wells. “I’m a little less than halfway through and it has been so insightful and encouraging to me. I am currently in the chapter on dealing with grief. This hit home to me as I have seen myself push away grieving for friends that have moved away and just sucking it up and dealing with it. I have said all these quotes that she mentioned. I see that this attitude is not healthy. It’s a lot of work being the happy missionary wife/mom. They praise us for where we serve but I’m not special. I’m just obeying God and where he called me.” Leaving family, home churches, and friends, or having short-term teams come and go, can be really hard on missionary families! Would you pray for missionaries around the world who also struggle with goodbyes? Would you pray for missionary families to have strong, healthy relationships in their places of service? (fb)
