🧡🤍💙 February 17, 2006. It was a few days after Valentine’s day. I was going fast. Both literally and in my mind. I had moved back to the U.S. alone just a few years before. And had recently moved to San Diego to go to college. I hand’t slept in over 72 hours. I was driving recklessly. I had spent all the money I had. I hit rock bottom. I called my mom in Iran. She flew to the States. I knew something was wrong but didn’t know what. I was 20 years old. And so, I agreed to go to the hospital. After evaluating me, the doctor wrote: “you are suffering from mania’s.” They said I was only going to be hospitalized for three days. But it ended being a week. From then began a long journey that continues to today. By all accounts, I should have not been able to accomplish a lot of the things I have. Everyday is a battle. But everyday I’m here, gives me an opportunity to continue to fight for myself and others. If you’re going through a tough time, keep pushing. As hard as it is, we come out stronger.
