Hello Friends, Please take a moment to submit a witness slip as a PROPONENT in support of SB 71 IEMA - School Safety. SB 71 works to help keep kids at school safe who could be negatively impacted by the rail transport of hazardous cargo. Witness slips must be submitted prior to the Illinois House of Representatives' Education Policy Committee Hearing on April 23, 2025 at 8:00a (Central). You can submit in representation of either a "Railroad Workers United Member" or as "Self". See attached example. The International Steering Committee (ISC) of Railroad Workers United passed a resolution to bring home Brother Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, a legally protected immigrant and SMART Union member. Kilmar was deported by the Trump administration without due process to a Salvadoran mega-prison — despite holding legal protections still in place at the time of his apprehension by ICE. (fb)
