Meet Shemika Walker! Shemika is our Employee Care Funds Senior Manager. She manages the CFMT's Employee Care Funds Program, collaborating with the Donor Services Team to ensure excellent customer service and adherence to best practices. She oversees data management, verifies applicants' employment, and works directly with those in crisis to determine eligibility. The Employee Care Fund program at the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee allows companies to provide short-term financial assistance to employees facing unexpected hardships such as natural disasters, serious illness, or the loss of a loved one. Employers establish a charitable fund with a tax-deductible contribution, and CFMT manages the entire process—reviewing applications, verifying need, and distributing funds—while ensuring privacy and fairness. This support helps employees cover essential expenses like rent, utilities, and medical bills, allowing companies to show meaningful care for their teams without taking on administrative burdens. (fb)
