Honoring Our Fallen Heroes On this day, we remember Officer William L. Isham and Officer Donald V. Knott, who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to a family disturbance call at 182 Quincy, Apt. A. Both officers were tragically shot and killed in the line of duty. They were pronounced dead at Long Beach Community Hospital. The suspect, who was also shot by the officers, later died from his injuries. Their courage, dedication, and sacrifice will never be forgotten. We Remember and Honor Officer Richard R. LeFebvre On the fourth night of the Watts Riots, officers responded to a call for help at 1380 California Avenue (now Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd) where a mob was throwing bricks at passing cars. While attempting to disperse the crowd, a struggle broke out over an officer's shotgun. The weapon discharged, and Officer Richard LeFebvre was fatally struck. Officer LeFebvre was just 24 years old.
