In 2018, after a recommendation from Spanish-speaking chaplain César Durán, Rev. Isidro Piña began serving the Rio Grande Valley Toros FC as volunteer chaplain. For the next five years, Isidro cared deeply for the players and coaches — leading them through the challenges of COVID-19, providing Spanish-language ministry, and being a faithful presence both on and off the field. Now serving in San Antonio with the United Methodist Church, Isidro continues to partner with Soccer Chaplains United through translation and advisement. His eight years of ministry continue to bear fruit — players still reach out to him, and his heart for people remains unchanged. “The years of working with the Toros are some of the best ministry moments of my life.” – Rev.
