The Japan Foundation (JF) is pleased to announce an open call for grant programs for the fiscal year 2026-2027. JF offers fellowship opportunities and institutional support programs for the development of Japanese Studies in the United States. Japanese Studies Fellowship Programs provide support to outstanding scholars, researchers, and PhD candidates in the field by offering the opportunity to conduct research in Japan. The deadline for fellowship applications is December 1st, 2025. Applications are also now open for our Institutional Project Support (IPS) Grant Program and our Institutional Project Support (IPS) - Small Grant Program. These grant programs support Japanese Studies at institutions, primarily colleges and universities. A concept paper for these grants is due October 31st, 2025, and the proposal deadline is due December 1st, 2025. We are also delighted to inform that JF has launched a new program this year, the U.S.-Southeast Asia-Japan Collaborative Exchange Initiative. This program aims to connect Japan scholars from the U.S., Southeast Asia, and Japan to foster collaborative scholarship and strengthen Japanese Studies across these regions. More information about our grants programs for 2026-2027 can be found on our webpage: (fb)
