Wanna change this? Men, when we first met our wives we were in “impressing/conquering mode”. But, if we are honest with ourselves, after those vows were made…we relaxed. I’m not saying we weren’t trying to be a good husband, it was that we accomplished the task and the quest to conquer faded. Most men will admit that over the years, we settled in. We stopped dating our wives, we stopped trying to woo her. We relaxed and allowed our actions to either enter laziness, detachment, or frustration/anger. We didn’t understand her. Why was she so aggravating?! She never stops telling me what I should be doing. And we continued to not care. The atmosphere elevated. Sadly, men are not taught the VALUE of her help. Yes, her sharing with you things she sees is HELP. God created her to see all the things you that don’t look like Him. We also were not taught to see that help as a means to rid ourselves of the sin in our lives. The laziness, the mean mouth/attitudes, the lack of being involved with the kids, being either overbearing or non- existent in raising the kids. The snide remarks. The insensitivity. We don’t see what she sees naturally. Others may see it…but do you really think they would say anything?!! And if we are truthful…we put more effort and are more careful with relationships outside the home than at home. It’s limited time spent with those people, but if they spent 24/7 with you…what would they see? Do you want to gain the benefits from your personal helper that God gave you? (Proverbs 18:22).
