Be The Rainbow Foundation helped provide some Chic Fil A breakfast and some rainbow goody bags of fun to the kids and caregivers at Duke Children’s in honor of Duke PTCT Family Support Program’s “Rainbow Day” today during their spirit week that leads up to their annual Rainbow of Hero’s Walk. Personally, it’s hard to describe the feeling of being someone on both sides of the door. This week and some of next, Charlotte is a patient in one of these rooms getting immunotherapy + Chemo. I know first hand how special this family support program is and we are honored to be a small part of sharing some joy and love this week to the kids and families here❤️🌈 (fb)

It’s September 3rd. 3 days into September’s Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and I have started and deleted and restarted and deleted what I have wanted to say. There is so much to say from a mom who is watching her youngest baby girl fight her cancer a 3rd time while also trying to continue the hopeful work within the nonprofit she helped found. The fact is, seeing my newsfeed fill up with childhood cancer statistics and little faces splashed with gold, the color for pediatric cancer, terrifies me. Haunts me. I have willingly shared our Charlotte’s story from the carepage/blog we started in 2016, to my personal social media posts for our friends and family, and now through Be The Rainbow Foundation. Complete strangers can read what I share if they want and why would we do that? 1. We believe we are witnessing God’s love and wisdom directly through her journey in countless ways and deeply believe in sharing this witness. Countless people have shared how Charlotte has enriched their own very life in some way…helping us believe all she must go through has a greater purpose then we could ever know. 2. Awareness is knowledge. Knowledge is power. Power brings action. Action changes and saves lives. We can all be a part of it somehow. Our babies, our children, our teens, and our future young adults need us❤️🌈 (fb)
