It was an inspirational end to the week, as the community came together to celebrate a year of impact in refugee resettlement at the WTAP Community Breakfast. It was a moment to acknowledge this year’s amazing work and to look ahead at how we can continue Welcoming Tomorrow. We were honored to hear from keynote speaker Bo Dul, who shared her family’s powerful refugee journey escaping the Khmer Rouge, along with her remarkable insights from her work as a lawyer and former Arizona State Elections Director. What an awesome day at Valencia Newcomer School! Huge thanks to the wonderful staff at Valencia Newcomer School for hosting us! And thank you to our amazing volunteers who helped distribute clothes and supplies to newcomer students and their families. Because of you, hundreds of items went to families who need them most. Last but not least, thanks Heartbeats AZ for providing music kits to young students, and for giving the event a fun soundtrack! We’ve got three more clothing distribution events coming up and are especially in need of boys’ and girls’ clothing (ages 6–16). Donations can be dropped off in the Tempe warehouse.
