We are gathering preliminary information about current practices, feelings, and needs related to archival sustainability. The results will be used to guide the development of sustainability programming and documentation. SSA accepts the United Nations Brundtland Commission’s definition of sustainability, which is “meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” This encompasses environmental, social, and fiscal needs; it can apply to archival practices (physical and digital including digital processing) and facilities. The survey is open to anyone currently working or volunteering at an archive within SSA’s geographical region. Responses will remain anonymous, with the option to provide general information about your affiliated institution. (fb)
