Take the Pioneer Challenge at the Chatsworth Historical Society Pioneer Day Sunday - Oct 5th from 11-3 pm at the Homestead Acre, 10385 Shadow Oak Drive (Just inside Chatsworth Park South) Bring your children and grandchildren and take the Pioneer Challenge! How much can you learn and experience in one afternoon? Test your skills at Chores of Yore, panning for real gold, beekeeping, blacksmithing, leather work, quilting and more. Learn Morse code and use a telegraph...texting 1880’s style. Make butter, make jewelry, and have fun with sack races and other games. See spinning wheels and weavers in action. Make a cornhusk doll and collect paper dolls. Visit our stagecoach, learn about native plants and take-home seeds and plants for your garden. Learn how bees pollinated orchards throughout the Valley. Visit the 1911 homestead cottage and see the kitchen with a wood burning stove and early conveniences. Our Homestead acre is home to over 100 rosebushes, 40 fruit trees and over 20 amazing shade trees including a giant Walnut tree. Come enjoy our garden. In the museum enjoy our photo collection and display on moving the Pioneer Church and learn more about our early Chatsworth Pioneer families. Come in Pioneer/Western clothes and take your photo in our Chatsworth Western Hero station. Family Friendly Admission/Donation $5 Adults, $1 for Children under 12 – Free for kids under 5 (Cash or PayPal at the gate) Presented by the Chatsworth Historical Society - All proceeds go to maintain and preserve the Homestead Acre and teach our community History Additional Parking and Shuttle service from the Chatsworth Train Depot (north lot) Every 15 minutes from 11am to 3 pm.
