Domestic violence survivors in Mississippi are getting the short end of the stick. Unlike many other states, Mississippi does not: ❌Require abusers to surrender firearms when under protection orders ❌Have ERPO statutes (sometimes called “red flag” laws) that allow courts to temporarily remove firearms from individuals deemed a threat ❌Provide paid safe leave so survivors can attend court or relocate safely These gaps leave survivors vulnerable. And silence can’t fix it. It’s time to speak up and push for stronger protections for survivors of domestic violence in Mississippi.
