Congratulations to Sarah Becszlko, certified occupational therapy assistant, who earned the Tulip Award for the outstanding, compassionate care she provides with the therapy team at #MercySouthSTL. A patient’s adult child nominated Sarah by writing: “I witnessed an angel in disguise as a caregiver. Sarah came into my mom’s room to elevate her and move her from the bed to a chair. My mother is recovering from a fall accident that broke her hip. She also is in late-stage dementia. While trying to raise her up in bed, my mom’s diaper came off and she soiled the bed and herself. The smile never left Sarah’s face. She proceeded to clean up the mess and Mom. She didn’t call for help, just went to work while assuring Mom that everything was alright. When she got mom standing, my mom again soiled herself, bed, gown and floor. This girl was amazing! Never once did she show the slightest bit of anger or frustration. I’ve often wondered why God didn’t give me any patience. Well, now I know He must have given mine to her! Mercy should be proud to have such an amazing individual representing their organization.” (fb)
