“I could never foster—I’d get too attached.” Elisa, a licensed foster parent with Child Crisis Arizona, hears this often. Her response? “That’s the point.” Attachment is exactly what children in foster care need. They need someone to show them what safety, love, and security look like. Elisa knows this firsthand. As a trauma therapist, she understands how deep the need runs. Since becoming licensed in 2022, she’s cared for five children and supported several more through respite care.
