It’s almost time for Mental Toughness Orientation (MTO), and we are so excited to begin! Those of you who have finished testing and completed an interview are invited to attend. MTO will take place daily from July 29th to August 1st and from August 4th to August 8th, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. If we are able to get everything done early, we might finish MTO on August 5th. However, keep all the above days and times clear unless you hear otherwise. Let’s cover some common questions… What is Mental Toughness Orientation? MTO is designed to prepare you for success both during and after YouthBuild. It provides you with the opportunity to see if YouthBuild is right for you, and YouthBuild the opportunity to see if you are right for us. MTO is the final phase of the selection process. In order to be invited to MTO, you would have had to have already taken a placement test and attended an interview. What will you be evaluating applicants on? Attitude, attendance & punctuality, participation, task completion, ability to follow directions, ability to work with a team, motivation, determination, commitment, reliability, dependability, and adaptability. What will I do at Mental Toughness Orientation? Activities, hands-on workshops, team building, and physical exercise. GET READY TO SWEAT. It’s going to involve some hard physical activities designed to measure your MENTAL TOUGHNESS. Do you have what it takes? What should I wear? Athletic wear. This may include a comfortable t-shirt, shorts that are worn at the waist and reach at least to your fingertips, joggers worn at the waist, leggings, and closed-toe shoes. Girls should wear a sports bra if needed. No hoodie sweatshirts or cropped tops are allowed. Hats, bonnets, headscarves, and do-rags are also not allowed. Tennis shoes are recommended; however, any comfortable, closed-toe shoe suitable for physical activity may be worn. What do I need to bring? Just yourself and a refillable water bottle. We will have a mid-morning break, so you are more than welcome to bring a snack. We will also have concessions available to purchase (CASH ONLY). As a reminder, if you have not submitted all your eligibility documents, you will need to bring them before the end of MTO. If we have not received all the necessary information, we cannot legally enroll you. **IMPORTANT: If you are currently enrolled in school, DO NOT DROP! Coming to MTO does not guarantee acceptance into the program. All acceptance will be done at the end of MTO. Stay enrolled in school until we notify you of your acceptance status.
