On Thursday, July 3rd, members of the Capital Advocates Together (C.A.T.) a local Self-Advocacy group in central Vermont, represented Green Mountain Self-Advocates in the annual Independence Day parade held in the state capital, Montpelier, VT. The group was joined by Self-Advocates from all over the state. It was also a way to celebrate disability pride month. Self-Advocates had an awesome time marching in the parade. (fb)

On Thursday, June 19th, GMSA along with the Northern Team of Self-Advocates participated in a Media Factory Project. The film is about knowing your rights as people with disabilities in the Home and Community Based Settings (HCBS) rules . Self-Advocates and GMSA staff did skits on different situations. Some of them were the right to go out in the community, the right to spend your money how you want, to live where you want and who you want to live with. Also, the right to eat what you want, choose a job you want, having privacy, etc. It was fun to act out different scenarios about your rights. Everyone did well in shooting the film. (fb)
