The urgent social challenge that has been our focus since our founding is increasing ideological rigidity, fear of difference and rejection of pluralism. This challenge is often expressed as aggressive resistance to initiatives for equity in schools and organizations, and increasing expressed in violence and bigotry regardless of political inclinations. Our overarching strategy as we approach that challenge is to focus on changing behavior, rather than beliefs, and to mitigate fear of both change and difference.
