Today, we at Cast, are wanting to take a moment to acknowledge and remember our founder, Richard's Father, Marcelino. Today is his heavenly birthday and a day that is heavy on our hearts. From the beginning of starting Cast, he supported our mission, he would tell everyone about it who would listen. He was a huge supporter of the St. Paul Police and the wellbeing of the officers in his community. He ran and coordinated a fundraiser to raise money to pay for the police officers bullet proof vests as prior, they had to pay for them, themselves. He had an incredibly strong work ethic and always emphasized giving back and bettering the community. He proudly wore his Cast shirts and jackets to work at TSA and would talk about our mission to anyone who was willing to listen. He connected us with media outlets, wonderful, supportive people, and we are grateful for the family he left behind here on earth. Aside from what he did for Cast, he always supported Richard and I as we started our small family and was there for us in the ways he knew how to be. Now, our family has grown and our Cast Family has grown substantially. While he may not be here with us on earth, he is with us in spirit and in our hearts and memories. I know he would be proud of the work we are doing to help others. Today, we remember you Marcelino! I hope there is Mancini's steak and garlic bread up there for you, Pat, im sure God borrowed your recipe for him today. Also, for those of you who don't know, while Richard was overseas in Iraq, his dad made a "Rick on a Stick" and brought him around everywhere he went, taking pictures with everyone who was willing. We have so many endeavors that Richard went on. Also, it was his basic training photo to make it that much better. He was always willing to laugh and buy me a cup of coffee. Most importantly, he loved his family! Today, we ask that you reach out to a family member you haven't spoken to in a while and chat with them for 5-10 minutes and just tell them you love them. Life is short and there are no guarantees when our time here on this side of heaven will be up.
