What role does forgetting play in transformation? “People come for treatment because they are remembering in a way that does not free them to forget.” – Adam Phillips “To study the self is to forget the self… and become one with the 10,000 things.” – Zen master Dogen In psychotherapy – and in life - too much self-knowledge can trap us. Clients often become experts in their own pain. But what if healing requires something else entirely? Join acclaimed author Lewis Hyde (praised by Margaret Atwood for The Gift)—for a live online workshop exploring the paradox of remembering and forgetting in therapeutic work. Drawing from his latest book, A Primer for Forgetting, Hyde invites us into a playful, searching conversation about identity, loss, and liberation. He’ll be joined by IMP Board President Doug Baker for this unique dialogue at the intersection of psychotherapy, literature, and contemplative practice. Wednesday, October 8 1–3 PM (ET) Live Online (no recording) $35 Nonmembers | $25 Members “Changes of identity call for large doses of forgetfulness.” — Lewis Hyde Spots are limited.
