On Samos, all our spaces are in the same zone, but doing outreach takes us beyond that. It gives us a chance to step into other areas of the camp, bringing a little light to wherever the residents live. We bring along a collection of engaging materials: books from the library 📚, coloring pages 🎨, ABC and math worksheets ✏️, and often a football ⚽ to share moments of joy with both children and adults. We invite families to visit our spaces, share info about legal help, and answer any questions we can. These small interactions often grow into something more: a familiar face showing up in the Women’s Community Center a few days later, a child returning to the library. There’s a beautiful aspect to the familiarity that grows: recognising residents, and being recognised by them throughout camp, across spaces and over time. We love doing outreach - but it is only possible when we have enough volunteers. Will you join us?
