Today was another busy day for our Fire District! In addition to some medical calls we also responded to major fires in our neighboring agencies. The first was a large grass fire in Salem and the second was a structure fire in Marion. With the combined effort of our dedicated volunteers and career staff along with a wildland staffing grant we were able to send 2 fire engines, 1 brush truck and a water tender to respond to these fires. Fun Fact: Todays house fire required a tender shuttle. Tenders are designed to primarily carry water to fires that are outside of the city hydrant system. They can either pump their water to a fire engine or drop their water in a portable tank. Our pics today show that operation in action! (fb)
