🌳⚾ Rooting for the Mariners and Our Mighty Maples! ⚾🌳 The Seattle Mariners are having an incredible post-season, and we’re cheering them on all the way! 🙌 One fun connection between America’s pastime and the Arboretum—baseball bats are still made from real wood. One of the Mariners’ star hitters, Cal Raleigh, swings a Victus V1B1 bat made from maple wood—most likely Sugar Maple (Acer saccharum). 🍁 Here at the Yakima Area Arboretum, we’re lucky to have several beautiful Sugar Maples of our own, including ‘Green Mountain,’ ‘Sweet Shadow,’ and ‘Autumn Fest.’ Their brilliant fall colors are just starting to show and will be at their best in the next few days and weeks.
