On 16th May 2025, Janathakshan proudly launched the NVQ Level 4 Recycling Industry Assistant course in collaboration with the Western Province Waste Management Authority (WPWMA) as a part of the PHINLA 2 project, co-implemented by Janathakshan and World Vision Lanka and co-funded by BMZ and World Vision Germany. This milestone initiative marks a significant step in our commitment to professionalizing the local Resource Collectors (RCs) and strengthening the informal waste management sector. A total of 50 RCs from Wattala and Ja-Ela have enrolled in this comprehensive six-month training program, which is designed to enhance their knowledge and skills in effective waste management practices, along with promoting recycling. The curriculum will cover essential technical and practical aspects of waste management, such as waste handling and disposal, waste segregation, recycling operations, occupational health and safety, waste value addition, basic computer literacy, and language competency, paving the way for improved service delivery and environmental stewardship. Upon successful completion, participants will be entitled to the nationally recognized NVQ Level 4 certification, strengthening their professional credibility and opening new opportunities for career growth in the sector. This initiative reflects our ongoing efforts to uplift and recognize the invaluable role of RCs in creating cleaner, more sustainable communities. . . . #PHINLA2 #WasteManagement #EnvironmentalProtection #CommunityHealth #WVL #Janathakshan #PHINLA #WorldVisionLanka #BMZ #CommunityDevelopment #SriLanka #Collaboration #JT #WVG #NVQ#Industrialassisant #WPWMA (fb)
Sri Lanka, a small island nation rich in biodiversity, is home to countless endemic species and vibrant ecosystems, from our rainforests to coral reefs. As climate change, deforestation, and pollution threaten our natural heritage, let’s renew our commitment to protect and preserve what makes our island unique. Every action counts. Let’s stand together for nature. . . . #WorldBiodiversityDay #2025 #BiodiversitySriLanka #ProtectOurNature #ClimateAction #Janathakshan (fb)
