Community Mediation Services (CMS) is a nonprofit organization based out of Jamaica Queens that has been serving socioeconomically disadvantaged communities in Queens and throughout New York City since 1983. Our mission is to create and promote opportunities for self-determination, positive decision making, and conflict resolution for individuals, youth, and families grappling with life's challenges. The ways we accomplish this include: • Conflict resolution and mediation services • Youth development programs in community and after school settings• Court diversion programs utilizing mentoring and personal development• Family stabilization through therapeutic interventions, counseling, and general prevention• Training in areas such as mediation, conflict resolution, restorative justice, and effective communication
