Team Brownsville continues to provide assistance to people who are vulnerable , people who are trapped between countries , unable to move forward in their requests for asylum and unable to go home. It’s a tough position and one in which most people have no experience. So we listen. And we try to respond to people’s needs. Currently we are providing weekly food deliveries to the Pumarejo shelter based on their needs. We also provide hygiene supplies, baby supplies, clothing , socks and shoes as we are able Numbers in the shelters are decreasing , but numbers of people relying on the shelter for meals and supplies is increasing. Pastor Abraham Barberi has opened a feeding center in Matamoros with meals being prepared several times a week for anyone that shows up Its vital work continues with assistance from supporters. And we are supporters , with your encouragement. Our support for Casa Lulu in Reynosa is ongoing as well Lulu cares for the most vulnerable people and we want to support her work as best we can . We were asked to help a blended family of 10 people with clothing and suitcases. So our volunteers worked together to make travel bags for each person. They’ll return to their home country with assistance from us and from others. We can only continue this work with your ongoing support. In the midst of uncertainty and desperation, this is the work that grounds us , to bring joy and lift spirits to people living in shelter. The children and families loved everything from the piñata and candy bags to the snacks from Baby2Baby, books from Reforma , teddy bears from Bears of Hope and pizza and juices we purchased from kind supporters of Team Brownsville. The children’s faces were painted at their school for Día de los Niños and they came ready for fun.
