The Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation is proud to be included in Totally Awesome! Cars and Culture of the ‘80s and ’90s at the Petersen Automotive Museum. Totally Awesome! explores the collision of car culture and pop culture in the ‘80s and ‘90s—an era when automotive designers started embracing a bold, futuristic look. This aesthetic emerged alongside the rise of video games, digital technology, and a fast-shifting visual culture. The influence of fashion, music, and media is reflected throughout the cars featured in this exhibition, opening Saturday, June 7th. We’re excited to have two works featured in the exhibition: 🏍️ LAII (Angel Ortiz), Untitled (Pink Motorcycle), 1991 🏍️ Daze, Honda VFR 750, 1986 LAII, known for his legendary collaborations with Keith Haring, layers abstract symbols and calligraphic forms with his signature tag. Daze, a legend of New York’s graffiti scene, started tagging subway cars before bringing his work into the gallery world. (fb)
