L.C. Miccio-Fonseca, PhD, is a long-time colleague and friend of Dr. Bob Geffner, and has known him for years as a true visionary in the field. As a leading expert in child sexual abuse and the creator of the groundbreaking MEGA risk assessment tool, Dr. Miccio-Fonseca continues to pave the way in research and clinical work with sexually abusive youth. Her contributions have shaped how we understand and support young people who offend—and how we prevent future harm. She has always been a strong supporter of IVAT and especially the San Diego Summit, recognizing it as a critical space for professionals to connect, learn, and grow together. Despite ongoing administrative budget cuts, Dr. Miccio-Fonseca remains hopeful that this will not slow IVAT down. What is Stop the Silence. Stop the Silence is a department of the Institute on Violence Abuse and Trauma committed to prevention treatment and mitigation of child sexual abuse CSA other adverse childhood experiences ACEs and related interpersonal trauma. We provide help and resources through comprehensive programming with awareness educationoutreach training and policy development and reform. We work to address the relationships between childhood trauma and the broader issues of overall family and community violence and violence within and between communities.
