This past summer, our protégés renamed Kid Power’s mentoring program to BEAM (Building Empowerment and Mentoring) after leading surveys and youth listening sessions. BEAM pairs DC students in grades 6–12 with dedicated community mentors for a year‑long partnership, weekly check‑ins, and a structured Road Map to goals. Interested in mentoring or partnering? A STRONGER MISSION A BOLD VISION Our Programs Youth leadership is central to our programs we operate four core programs that address the interconnected academic social and health challenges facing our students. We are committed to elevating youth voice advancing equity in the District equipping youth with the tools to be confident agents of positive change and providing opportunities that encourage informed healthy decisionmaking. Together with our partners Kid Power youth work to build a strong healthy and resilient community each day. AfterSchool Program Summer Leadership Academy High Impact Tutoring Program Mentor Enrichment Program InSchool Health Wellness The program helped 92 of students maintain or improve their ELA standardized test scores and 7 move from below proficiency to approaching meeting or exceeding proficiency.
