We are heartbroken and enraged by what occurred at Cal Anderson Park on May 24th. Lavender Rights Project stands with our community in grief, in anger, and in unwavering resistance. These acts of provocation—rooted in right-wing hate, religious extremism, and anti-trans fascism—are not isolated. They are part of a broader national strategy to erase and endanger us. And still: we rise. We resist. We stay. Seattle has long been a sanctuary for queer and trans people. That sanctuary is under attack—and not just by those who show up in parks with hate in their hearts, but by those infiltrating neighborhood councils, reshaping local politics, and targeting trans women through campaigns like Project 2025.
