From birth, baby Teddy had a complex medical history — heart defects, breathing issues, brain abnormalities. At five months he developed a fever, seizures, and a brain bleed. Despite no bruises or neck injuries, a child abuse pediatrician labeled it shaken baby syndrome. CPS removed Teddy and his siblings from their parents for six months. This will not stop until the child welfare system stops giving child abuse pediatricians sweeping power, shielding them from accountability, and disregarding the opinions of treating physicians. (fb)
